What Happens After You Sign Up with Texas Tax Protest

Appealing your property tax assessment is your right as a property owner. Smart property owners hire Texas Tax Protest to ensure they are not over assessed and only pay their fair share in property taxes.

Have you ever considered what happens after you sign up with Texas Tax Protest?

First off, signing up with Texas Tax Protest could not be easier! Our simple electronic engagement document can be opened on your phone, tablet, or laptop and only takes minutes to review and sign.

Once you have signed the documents, our team is notified and will send you a questionnaire where you can tell us about your property.  Because you know your property better than anyone else, we feel it is important to provide you the opportunity to share information on your property which may assist in the appeal process.

In past years, Appraisal Districts have fairly reviewed our appeals; however, we have noticed that tax savings have been exceptionally high on cases where we present property photos along with our appraisal analysis.

Texas Tax Protest will file your appeal along with the required Agent Authorization form prior to the filing deadline. The deadline is typically 30 days after your notice date or May 15th, whichever is later.

Next, the evidence is prepared that will be presented to the county. Our property research capability is unmatched. We have developed a proprietary software platform that applies big-data algorithms to analyze millions of data records to gather the facts we need to prepare your tax protest case.

Then we wait for the county to schedule our appointment. While we would like to meet with the county appraiser right away, we are at the mercy of the county’s schedule. Appointment scheduling typically occurs late-May through mid-July.

Keep in mind that while Agent appointment dates are scheduled on a particular date, appointments typically continue daily until all accounts have been completed.

This means that your hearing may not take place on exactly the date listed in your notice since cases will be heard on a rolling basis depending on the county’s caseload.

For example, this means if your hearing is scheduled for June 25th, your case may not be heard until days later as a result.

Once the Appraisal District certifies values at the end of each appeal season, Texas Tax Protest will notify you of your results. You can typically expect to receive your results by late September.

Our team at TTP looks forward to managing your values every year and ensuring a fair tax assessment on your property.
